CR Veterans for Truth II
As CR blogs continue to degenerate into divisive gossip-mills the need for a honest and constructive forum grows.
More Soon.
CR Veterans For Truth has served as a blog dedicated to looking honestly and openly at issues facing College Republicans. While it's founders have moved on the vision remains and can be described in a quote from CRNC Candidate Michael Davidson: "Resist the gossip, because small minds gossip; resist cynicism, because defeated average minds are cynical. Instead, focus on the ideas, vision, reform, and opportunity for progress, because great minds do that and ultimately realize success."
As CR blogs continue to degenerate into divisive gossip-mills the need for a honest and constructive forum grows.
Unfortunately Scott Wacholtz chose to log into CR Vets II and edit, delete, and change the posts of other contributors as some sort of benign joke- this is not only disrespectful but it is also, in our view, dishonest (by representing someone else without their permission). While Scott may be okay with identity-theft and fraud we're not. We were hoping to promote a serious discussion that would improve the condition of CRs and the Republican Party, not tarnish and diminish it by mocking various leaders.
The State of the Blogoshpere:
With much of the CR blog community regressing into dishonest tabloid status, we thought it might be beneficial to reflect on the final thoughts of the former standard bearer of roughly half of the CRs in the country, Michael Davidson.
In his farewell speech entitled Audentes Fortuna Juvat on the 4th of July, 2005 the CRNC Chairman candidate said the following (you decide if the web logs such as "CRNC Chatter" or "Truth Caucus" even come close to meeting Davidson's noble encouragement towards real progress):
"Most of us still desire a reformed process, more transparency, improved resources and training, valued debate, and an organization that makes every College Republican count. Our organization needs reforms in order to earn the respect of our senior party, gain credibility in the eyes of the public, inspire faith in our leadership, and to build the integrity that we as Republicans must demand. In other words, a campaign might have ended, but a movement started, and it continues with you. But I encourage each of you to resist the gossip, because small minds gossip; resist cynicism, because defeated average minds are cynical. Instead, focus on the ideas, vision, reform, and opportunity for progress, because great minds do that and ultimately realize success."
--Michael Davidson
I believe that CRs across America ultimately will not relegate themselves to the negative world of gossip and cynicism. We must, as Mr. Davidson eloquently points out, focus on "ideas, vision, reform, and opportunities for progress."
There are real and tangible needs for reform that were highlighted during the 2005 CRNC elections. We must debate and pursue these reforms in a unifying and positive manner. We must advance our Party's cause, not hinder it by breeding senseless(often anonymous) gossip and cynicism while neglecting to do the real work that needs to be done.
